Keep memories, save space

Video compressor

Videos are usually the heaviest thing on an iPhone. Clean Kit lists your videos from largest to smallest and compresses them on your device at three quality levels, so you can keep the moment and free most of the space.

Three quality levels

Level What it does Best for
Optimal HEVC encoding with minimal quality loss, keeps up to 4K Videos you’ll watch on a big screen
Medium Capped at 1080p A balance of quality and savings
Maximum Capped at 720p The most space back

Results depend on each video’s original codec, resolution and bitrate, so Clean Kit shows an estimate before you start.

How it works

  1. Open Media → Videos in Clean Kit. Videos are sorted from largest to smallest.
  2. Pick a video and a quality level.
  3. Clean Kit saves a compressed copy to your library.
  4. Check the copy, then delete the original to free the space.

Why compress instead of delete?

According to the sizes Apple lists in Settings → Camera → Record Video, a minute of 4K at 60 fps uses about 400 MB, while 1080p at 30 fps uses about 60 MB. Most phone videos don’t need 4K, so compressing them keeps the memory and frees most of the space.

Frequently asked questions

Does Clean Kit replace my original video?

No. The compressed video is saved as a new file in your library. The original stays until you choose to delete it, so you can compare first.

Which quality level should I choose?

Optimal re-encodes with HEVC and keeps up to 4K, which is barely visible on a phone. Medium caps at 1080p, and Maximum caps at 720p for the biggest savings.

Is the compression done online?

No. Compression runs on your iPhone or iPad. Your videos are never uploaded.
